At Brisbane Canine Coaching, the Boutique Board and Train Program is designed for clients seeking an intensive, highly personalised training experience delivered with discretion, care, and professional oversight. This is a deliberately selective service, with only one dog accepted for boarding and training at any given time, ensuring complete focus and consistency throughout the program.
By limiting placement to a single dog, training is conducted in a controlled, low-stress environment where learning can be optimised and progress closely monitored. Each dog receives extensive daily training time, individualised planning, and direct supervision by head trainer Josh Edwards, allowing training decisions to be adjusted in real time based on the dog’s responses and development.
The program is suited to dogs requiring focused skill development, behavioural refinement, or a structured reset under professional guidance. Training is never approached as a generic or accelerated process. Emphasis is placed on clarity, emotional stability, and reliable behaviour that transfers beyond the training environment.
-
Obedience & Behavioural Refinement
Developing clear, reliable responses and improving overall structure, engagement, and day-to-day behaviour.
Behaviour Modification & Stability
Addressing undesirable behaviours through measured, ethical training designed to build predictability and calm decision-making.
Impulse Control & Engagement
Teaching dogs to regulate arousal and remain responsive under distraction or pressure.
Foundational Skill Development
Establishing or strengthening core skills appropriate to the dog’s age, temperament, and long-term goals.
A critical component of the Boutique Board and Train Program is handler transition and education. Training does not end when the dog returns home. Each placement includes three structured follow-up sessions with the owner or handler, designed to transfer skills, reinforce understanding, and ensure continuity between the training environment and everyday life.
Due to the level of responsibility involved, the depth of training provided, and the one-dog-at-a-time structure, this program is competitive and selective. Placement is limited and subject to suitability assessment to ensure the service is appropriate for both the dog and the owner’s expectations.

This boutique board and train program provides an immersive training environment where your dog receives focused, individual attention over a defined training period. Significant progress can be achieved through consistent structure, repetition, and clear expectations, however outcomes depend on several important factors.
Potential results may include:
Noticeable improvement in obedience, engagement, and clarity of communication
Increased impulse control and calmer decision-making in structured environments
Improved reliability of trained behaviours when managed and reinforced correctly
Reduction in unwanted behaviours through consistent routines and clear boundaries
A dog that understands expectations and has practiced appropriate responses daily
Limitations and important considerations:
Board and train is a foundation-building program, not a permanent solution
Skills learned during the stay must be transferred and maintained by the owner after handover
Without consistent follow-through at home, regression is likely over time
Behavioural change is influenced by genetics, prior learning history, environment, and lifestyle
Complex behavioural issues may require ongoing training, management, or follow-up sessions
This program does not aim to create a “finished” dog that performs automatically in all environments. Instead, it focuses on building clear foundations, improving structure, and establishing behaviours that owners can realistically maintain.
Handover sessions are a critical component of the program and are designed to ensure owners understand how to apply, reinforce, and protect the work completed during the board and train period.
The goal is a dog that leaves with stronger skills and clearer expectations — and an owner who is equipped to carry that work forward responsibly.

At Brisbane Canine Coaching, I specialise in working with dogs displaying aggression, reactivity, and complex behavioural challenges. Whether your dog struggles with lunging, barking, fear-based responses, or poor impulse control, training is approached through structured assessment, clear communication, and practical behaviour modification strategies.
The goal is not suppression or quick fixes, but the development of calm, predictable behaviour and confident, capable handlers. Every program is tailored to the individual dog, their environment, and the underlying causes driving the behaviour.
-
Reactivity Training
Teaching dogs to remain composed and responsive around other dogs, people, and environmental triggers.
Aggression Management
Addressing fear-based, territorial, and resource-guarding behaviours with safety, stability, and long-term outcomes as the priority.
Impulse Control & Obedience Under Pressure
Building reliable responses in situations where arousal and stress are elevated.
Structured Behaviour Modification Programs
Individualised plans designed to reshape unwanted behaviours through consistent, ethical training.

This package is designed to support dogs with aggression, reactivity, or complex behavioural challenges through structured training, controlled exposure, and clear handler guidance. Meaningful improvement is achievable, but results depend on several important factors.
Potential results may include:
Reduced intensity, frequency, and duration of aggressive or reactive behaviours
Improved emotional regulation and recovery after exposure to triggering situations
Increased ability for the dog to disengage, redirect, or remain neutral when handled correctly
Greater predictability and manageability in day-to-day situations
Improved handler confidence, timing, and decision-making around challenging behaviours
Limitations and important considerations:
Behavioural change is not linear, and progress may fluctuate depending on environment, stress levels, health, and consistency
This program does not guarantee complete elimination of aggression or reactivity
Genetics, early development, prior learning history, and reinforcement patterns play a significant role in long-term outcomes
Owner commitment, consistency, and correct application of techniques are critical to success
Some dogs will always require ongoing management, boundaries, or lifestyle adjustments to remain safe and stable
This program does not rely on suppression or quick fixes. Instead, it focuses on improving coping strategies, reducing risk, and building skills that support safer and more sustainable behaviour over time.
The aim is realistic improvement, not perfection — and clear, honest communication about what is achievable for each individual dog.

At Brisbane Canine Coaching, obedience training is built around clarity, engagement, and reliability in real-world conditions. These programs are designed to develop well-mannered, responsive dogs while equipping owners with the skills and understanding needed to maintain consistent behaviour long term.
Whether you are establishing foundational obedience or refining advanced skills, training is structured, progressive, and tailored to the individual dog and household environment.
-
Foundational Obedience
Teaching core skills such as sit, stay, down, recall, and appropriate leash manners to establish clear communication and control.
Advanced Obedience
Development of off-leash reliability, distance control, and more complex obedience behaviours.
Loose Leash Walking & Reliable Recall
Practical solutions to improve walk manners and off-leash responsiveness in everyday environments.
Engagement & Focus Training
Strengthening the dog–handler relationship to improve attention, responsiveness, and overall training success.

This package is designed to build reliable obedience, improved engagement, and clearer communication between you and your dog through structured training and consistent application. Strong results are achievable when the program is followed as intended, but outcomes depend on several key factors.
Potential results may include:
Improved engagement and responsiveness to the handler in low to moderate distraction environments
Increased reliability of core obedience behaviours such as recall, loose leash walking, place, and duration-based commands
Better impulse control and the ability to make calmer choices when appropriately managed
Clearer communication and reduced confusion for the dog through consistent cues and expectations
Increased handler confidence, timing, and consistency in day-to-day interactions
Limitations and important considerations:
Obedience is context-dependent and must be maintained through ongoing practice and reinforcement
High-distraction environments require progressive training and cannot be rushed
Genetics, drive level, age, prior learning history, and lifestyle all influence the speed and ceiling of progress
This program does not guarantee “perfect” obedience in all environments without continued work
Inconsistent handling, unclear boundaries, or lack of follow-through will limit long-term results
This package focuses on building functional obedience and engagement that supports real-world living, not robotic compliance. Training emphasises clarity, structure, and practical application rather than shortcuts or suppression.
The goal is a dog that is more attentive, responsive, and manageable — and an owner who understands how to maintain and build on those results over time.

At Brisbane Canine Coaching, Puppy Early Learning and Development programs are designed to build confident, resilient, and well-mannered dogs from the very beginning. The early months of a dog’s life are critical, shaping behaviour, emotional stability, and learning capacity well into adulthood. Training during this period focuses on clear communication, healthy exposure, and strong foundational habits.
Programs are structured to support both the puppy and the owner, ensuring learning is age-appropriate, positive, and consistent.
-
Early Obedience Foundations
Introduction to essential skills such as sit, stay, recall, and loose leash walking in a developmentally appropriate manner.
Socialisation & Confidence Development
Structured exposure to people, dogs, sounds, surfaces, and environments to build confidence without overwhelming the puppy.
Crate Training & Toilet Training
Establishing reliable routines and boundaries to support calm behaviour and good household habits.
Handling & Veterinary Preparation
Teaching puppies to comfortably accept handling, grooming, and routine veterinary procedures.
Early Problem Prevention
Addressing common issues such as nipping, jumping, chewing, and early separation-related behaviours before they become ingrained habits.
-
This package is designed to support puppies during their critical early learning and development period by building strong foundations in engagement, confidence, handling, and everyday skills. When applied consistently, this early work can have a lasting positive impact on a dog’s behaviour as they mature.
Potential results may include:
Improved engagement and focus on the handler in familiar environments
Increased confidence with novel surfaces, sounds, people, and environments when exposure is introduced appropriately
Development of calm, age-appropriate behaviours such as settling, handling tolerance, and basic impulse control
Early understanding of foundational skills including recall games, loose leash foundations, marker cues, and structured play
Clearer communication between puppy and owner, reducing confusion and frustration during the learning process
Limitations and important considerations:
Puppies are still developing physically, emotionally, and neurologically; progress will vary and is not linear
This program does not prevent all future behavioural challenges, particularly those influenced by genetics or later life experiences
Fear periods, teething, growth phases, and adolescence may temporarily affect behaviour and responsiveness
Consistency at home and appropriate management outside of sessions are critical to maintaining progress
Early learning builds foundations, but ongoing training and reinforcement are required as the dog matures
This package focuses on creating positive learning experiences, healthy coping strategies, and clear structure during a formative stage of development. It is not about fast results or advanced obedience, but about setting puppies up for long-term success.
The goal is a confident, engaged puppy with strong foundational skills — and an owner who understands how to support their dog’s development through each stage of growth.

-
This package is designed to develop a dog’s natural scenting ability through structured detection, tracking, or trailing work, while building clarity, confidence, and teamwork between dog and handler. Strong progress is achievable when training is applied consistently and within the dog’s individual capability.
Potential results may include:
Improved understanding of target odours, scent trails, or human scent depending on the chosen discipline
Increased confidence and independence while working scent problems
Stronger engagement and communication between dog and handler during working tasks
Development of clear start routines, search behaviour, and indication or tracking mechanics
Improved mental fulfilment and focus through purposeful, structured work
Limitations and important considerations:
Progress varies significantly based on genetics, drive, motivation, age, and prior learning history
Scent work is a technical skill that requires ongoing practice to maintain accuracy and reliability
Environmental factors such as wind, surface type, contamination, and time significantly affect performance
This program does not guarantee operational, competition-ready, or deployment-level proficiency
Handler skill, consistency, and understanding play a major role in long-term outcomes
This program focuses on building strong foundations, correct mechanics, and ethical scent development rather than rushing outcomes or relying on shortcuts. Speed and complexity are introduced progressively to protect confidence and accuracy.
The goal is a dog that understands the task, enjoys the work, and demonstrates clear, repeatable behaviours — and a handler who knows how to read, support, and progress their dog appropriately over time.
